I THINK I KNOW WHAT THAT IS
What I have learned from protesting:
- the person standing next to you in a protest line is your comrade; no need to agree on everything
- the person waving to you from a car during a Visibility Event [where the message is “ICE lies and kills”] and you smile because you might have reached someone but then all of a sudden they flash you the “finger” —it is disturbing on every level
- when you realize that person is a woman—the disappointment is enormous but I deeply understand that is someone who is missing a whole lot in their life
- the people you meet when shouting bring you joy because you are in good company causing good trouble
So if you are searching for that little bit of comfort in an explosive world maybe a little shouting STAND UP FIGHT BACK will be good for you. It will assuage your conscience, but more importantly, it will give you courage and power.

- there is always enough time: start little, get bigger, grow with others
- if you believe you are young and this horror will pass, you are wrong
- If you believe there is NOTHING you can do, you are wrong
- if you believe there is NOTHING MORE you can do, you are wrong
- if you believe there is a LITTLE SOMETHING you can do—you are ready to join with others so others may hear your voice
I encourage you to do something, write a prepaid postcard, write a postcard where you pay postage, attend a local protest, join a group that lets you know what is happening, create relationships with like-minded people, that give you comfort. This alone will give you more and fill in the missing gap.
The government has begun to kill people for very disturbing reasons: not because that someone is going to hurt someone; not because that person hurt someone before, but because they don’t want them in this country. The government is hunting people down and sometimes that person gets shot, or beat, or deprived of medication when detained and dies
Pay attention and do something.
